Mead and Conway Mother's book is very pertinent. VLSI you are new to an area of key texts in this book. In 1980, authors of the chip fabrication steps are managed in a general intangible. Chip is designed in a way that can be taught the undergraduate level, using this book. Plus layout software. Students could be taped and fab design is then sent out and was fact.
This was a huge achievement. Prior to this book, if you actually make the chip, using a reasonably current fab want, then you could do as a university student. Semiconductor fab in the company you worked for. Large gap in your education. The chip also means that more knowledge was not transferable if you change companies.
Software terms, this book is refactoring. Although the term itself was not the software for use in 90 years. Can be profitably read this book yet. The layout plan does not become obsolete. In fact, if you were to compare this book with more current undergrad VLSI texts, there are a few simple turn of a new introduction.
