Jan L. Harrington, "SQL Clearly Explained, Third Edition"

Jan L. Harrington, "SQL Clearly Explained, Third Edition"
MK | 2010 | ISBN: 0123756979 | 480 pages | PDF | 3,5 MB

Although the core of the SQL language remains relatively unchanged, the most recent release of the SQL standard (SQL:2008) includes two sets of extensions: 1) support for object-relational databases and 2) support for XML. The second edition of this book included some material about the object-relational extensions. However, that set of commands has been greatly extended and the new edition takes that into account. The XML extensions are entirely new to the third edition. A chapter on basic relational concepts will be also added to broaden the audience and make the book more complete in its own right.

All of the chapters will be revised to be sure they are up to date. Chapter 10 ("Views, Temporary Tables, and Indexes") from the second edition will be expanded to include common table expression (CTEs). The material in the existing Chapter 14 ("Unimplemented SQL-92 Features 251") will be disbursed through the chapters where the particular type of operation is discussed. While the content throughout will be updated where necessary, the existing organizational structure through chapter 14 will remain largely intact because this coverage represents the stable portion of the SQL language.

Adolf Hitler Mein Jugendfreund

August Kubizek, "Adolf Hitler - mein Jugendfreund. Ein authentisches Dokument mit neuen Bildern".
Publisher: Stocker | english | ISBN: 370200971X | edition: 2002 | PDF | 296 Pages | 13.96 Mb

Get ahold of this book, whatever it takes. So much of what is today accepted as "fact" about Adolf Hitler is full of inconsistencies and assumption. It has been my experience that the public will readily swallow whatever they are fed about Hitler without giving so much as a second thought as to whether or not it is accurate. I wish I could be indifferent to this and take a neutral stance, but I cannot. I have dedicated six years of my life to studying that of Hitler, and it pains me to witness the widespread ignorance displayed by the majority whenever his name is mentioned. This is why this book is so important to me. It is by far the best ever written about his young adulthood and, in short, who he really was as a person, an individual; for in order to begin to grasp who Hitler was, one must look into his past.During the years the two spent together in Linz and later in Vienna, young Adolf was already developing into who he would later become. For getting a deeper perspective of the true nature of Adolf Hitler, August Kubizek is, in my humble opinion, the most reliable source for insight into this complicated human being. No one knew Hitler more intimately than he did. He was also reunited with his old friend three decades after their ways parted in Vienna, and thus gives valuable insight regarding "Adolf Hitler, the Fuhrer". And, as Kubizek remarked, "Hitler didn't change."The words Kubizek uses to describe his young friend convey the image of a deep, passionate, gifted and serious young man who, due to his great obsession with changing the world around him, did not enjoy his youth in any traditional sense. Kubizek did his friend a great service by writing this book. It is required reading for all serious students of Hitler's incredible life, for it is an honest, first-hand account of the young starving artist, open and unbiased--unlike any other book ever to tackle the subject.

Antimicrobial Chemotherapy

David Greenwood, Roger Finch, Peter Davey, Mark Wilcox, "Antimicrobial Chemotherapy"
Oxford University Press, USA 2007-02-12 ISBN: 0198570163 504 pages CHM 4,7 MB

Instilling good prescribing habits in young doctors is essential for the benefit of patients and to preserve the value of the antibiotic revolution that altered medical practice in the second half of the twentieth century. These concerns underlie the approach taken in the new edition of this successful book. The text provides a comprehensive and up-to-date account of the principles of antimicrobial chemotherapy as an aid to informed, rational prescribing. Care is taken to address all aspects of antimicrobial drug use, including those specific to developed and developing countries of the world. The authors are international experts with a long standing interest in the role of education as a means of promoting an understanding of the benefits and limitations of antimicrobial chemotherapy in physicians, surgeons and other health care workers. The book offers a structured approach to the subject in four themed sections, each of several chapters. A historical introduction is followed by a section outlining the basic properties of antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic and antiviral (including antiretroviral) drugs. The next section explains the various facets of antimicrobial drug resistance - which threatens to undermine the continued efficacy of antimicrobial agents - and effective ways of countering the threat. Therapeutic use is covered in two sections: one introduces readers to the general principles that inform the rational prescribing of antimicrobial drugs; the second deals with practicalities of the use of antimicrobial agents in specific clinical conditions. The book ends with a description of the ways in which drugs are developed and marketed. There are extensive recommendations for further reading.

The Satanic Verses By Salman Rushdie
Free eBook The Satanic Verses By Salman Rushdie Download. No book in modern times has matched the uproar sparked by Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses, which earned its author a death sentence. Furor aside, it is a marvelously erudite study of good and evil, a feast of language served up by a writer at the height of his powers, and a rollicking comic fable. The book begins with two Indians, Gibreel Farishta ("for fifteen years the biggest star in the history of the Indian movies") and Saladin Chamcha, a Bombay expatriate returning from his first visit to his homeland in 15 years, plummeting from the sky after the explosion of their jetliner, and proceeds through a series of metamorphoses, dreams and revelations. Rushdie's powers of invention are astonishing in this Whitbread Prize winner.

On Wings of Eagles By Ken Follett

On Wings of Eagles By Ken Follett
If Follett has any problem with his story, it is the vast quantity of source material that he has to manage. Where does he start, where does he stop?? Which people and which incidents are worth including, which are not?? And, does he praise Ross Perot?? Of course he does. Ross is the person who led the rescue, who put his own life and personal reputation on the line. Ross actually went to the Gasr jail to see it for himself, to personally tell the two hostages to keep their faith and to gain first-hand knowledge of the Revolution taking place in Iran. How could Follett tell the story and not praise Perot. Actually, the facts do it for him.

Hence many companies conduct written test in C language before conducting an interview. Though on the face it C language appears to be simple it has a number of features which can challenge the best in the field. Unless you fully understand what these features are and how they are used you would not be able to answer these tests confidently. Instead of taking the regular approach of discussing each of these features one by one, this book takes a different route. It highlights these features through questions, about 1000 of them. Answers are furnished for each question which illustrates the key points lucidly. Once you are through with this book you will be able to face these written tests with the confidence that "I can do it"!

Methods in Cell Biology, vol.83 - Cell Mechanics

Methods in Cell Biology, vol.83 - Cell Mechanics
Publisher:Academic Press
Language: English
ISBN:0123705002
496 pages
Data: 2007 PDF 17 Mb

Description:
Cell mechanics is the field of study that looks at how cells detect, modify, and respond to the physical properties of the cell environment. Cells communicate with each other through chemical and physical signals which are involved in a range of process from embryogenesis and wound healing to pathological conditions such as cancerous invasion. Similar principles are also likely to be critical for success in regenerative medicine. Cell mechanics is thus central to understanding these principles. As cell mechanics draws from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and mathematics, this book aims not only to provide a collection of research methods, but also to develop a common language among scientists who share the interest in cell mechanics but enter the field with diverse backgrounds. To this end all of the contributing authors have sought to explain in plain language the nature of the biological problems, the rationale for the approaches, in addition to the methods themselves. In addition, to balance practical utility against conceptual advances, the book has intentionally included both chapters that provide detailed recipes and those that emphasize basic principles.

Publisher: CRC Press | 1 Dec 2006 | ISBN: 0849392195 | Pages: 312 | PDF | 6.6 MB

Following a review of cancer causes and progression, current treatments, and the philosophy of drug discovery, this comprehensive work surveys anticancer agents currently in use or in advanced stages of clinical trials, including biological agents. Ideal for those involved in anticancer drug research, the book provides molecular structures for each agent and discusses their history, chemistry, mechanisms of action, structure-function relationships, relevant pharmacology, cytotoxicity, side effects, and formulation issues. It also discusses new research tools, methodologies, tumor-targeting strategies, and the emerging areas of oncogenomics and chemoprevention.

While drug therapies developed in the last 50 years have markedly improved the management of some types of cancers, treatment outcomes, and drug side-effects for the most common types remain unacceptable. However, recent technological advances are leading to improved therapies based on targeting distinct biological pathways in cancer cells. Chemistry and Pharmacology of Anticancer Drugs is a comprehensive survey of all families of anticancer agents currently in use or in advanced stages of clinical trials, including biologicals.

The book is unique in providing molecular structures for all anticancer drugs, discussing them in terms of history, chemistry, mechanism of action, structure-function relationships, and pharmacology. It also provides some relevant information on side effects, dosing, and formulation. The author, a renowned scientist in cancer research and drug development, also provides up-to-date information on the drug discovery process, including new research tools, tumor-targeting strategies, and fundamental concepts in the emerging areas of personalized medicine (e.g., oncogenomics) and chemoprevention.

Chemistry and Pharmacology of Anticancer Drugs is an indispensable resource for cancer researchers, medicinal chemists, and other biomedical scientists involved in the development of new anticancer treatments.
