SOA and Web Services Interface Design: Principles, Techniques, and Standards

James Bean "SOA and Web Services Interface Design: Principles, Techniques, and Standards"
Morgan Kaufmann | English | 2009-11-04 | ISBN: 0123748917 | 384 pages | PDF | 15,2 MB

With the introduction of increasingly complex Web services over the last decade, there has been an explosion of interest in service-oriented architecture (SOA), a structural style whose goal is to achieve a coupling of interacting services - functionalities such as filling out an online application for an account, viewing an online bank statement, or placing an online booking or airline ticket order. These services operate through specific interfaces that control and define their operation. However, due to the evolving nature of enterprises, new services and applications must often be incorporated into these same interfaces. Such incorporation can be costly and complex if the original interface is inflexible or incompatible with the technology utilized by the new applications.

In his new book, data architecture guru James Bean teaches you exactly how to design web service interfaces that are capable of being extended to accommodate ever changing business needs and promote incorporation simplicity. The book first provides an overview of critical SOA principles, thereby offering a basic conceptual summary. The book then provides explicit, tactical, and real-world techniques for ensuring compliance with these principles. Using a focused, tutorial-based approach the book provides working syntactical examples - described by Web services standards such as XML, XML Schemas, WSDL and SOAP - that can be used to directly implement interface design procedures, thus allowing you immediately generate value from your efforts. In summary, SOA and Web Services Interface Design provides the basic theory, but also design techniques and very specific implementable encoded interface examples that can be immediately employed in your work, making it an invaluable practical guide to any practitioner in today's exploding Web-based service market.
• Provides chapters on topics of introductory WSDL syntax and XML Schema syntax, taking take the reader through fundamental concepts and into deeper techniques and allowing them to quickly climb the learning curve.
• Provides working syntactical examples - described by Web services standards such as XML, XML Schemas, WSDL and SOAP - that can be used to directly implement interface design procedures.
• Real-world examples generated using the Altova XML Spy tooling reinforce applicability, allowing you to immediately generate value from their efforts.
• A companion website with all artwork and code examples accompanies the book.

This textbook describes the physics of semiconductor nanostructures with emphasis on their electronic transport properties. At its heart are five fundamental transport phenomena: quantized conductance, tunnelling transport, the Aharonov-Bohm effect, the quantum Hall effect, and the Coulomb blockade effect.
The book starts out with the basics of solid state and semiconductor physics, such as crystal structure, band structure, and effective mass approximation, including spin-orbit interaction effects important for research in semiconductor spintronics. It contains material aspects such as band engineering, doping, gating, and a selection of nanostructure fabrication techniques. The book discusses the Drude-Boltzmann-Sommerfeld transport theory as well as conductance quantization and the Landauer-Buttiker theory. These concepts are extended to mesoscopic interference phenomena and decoherence, magnetotransport, and interaction effects in quantum-confined systems, guiding the reader from fundamental effects to specialized state-of-the-art experiments.

Publisher: Ap..ress 2011 | 592 Pages | ISBN: 1430236620 | EPUB + PDF | 6 MB + 31 MB

Performance problems are rarely "problems" per se. They are more often "crises" during which you’re pressured for results by a manager standing outside your cubicle while your phone rings with queries from the help desk. You won’t have the time for a leisurely perusal of the manuals, nor to lean back and read a book on theory. What you need in that situation is a book of solutions, and solutions are precisely what Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Recipes delivers.

Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Recipes is a ready reference for database administrators in need of immediate help with performance issues relating to Oracle Database. The book takes an example-based approach, wherein each chapter covers a specific problem domain. Within each chapter are "recipes," showing by example how to perform common tasks in that chapter’s domain. Solutions in the recipes are backed by clear explanations of background and theory from the author team. Whatever the task, if it’s performance-related, you’ll probably find a recipe and a solution in this book.
  • Provides proven solutions to real-life Oracle performance problems
  • Offers relevant background and theory to support each solution
  • Written by a team of experienced database administrators successful in their careers

What you’ll learn
  • Optimize the use of memory and storage

Inside the C++ Object Model

Inside the C++ Object Model focuses on the underlying mechanisms that support object-oriented programming within C++: constructor semantics, temporary generation, support for encapsulation, inheritance, and "the virtuals"--virtual functions and virtual inheritance. This book shows how your understanding the underlying implementation models can help you code more efficiently and with greater confidence. Lippman dispells the misinformation and myths about the overhead and complexity associated with C++, while pointing out areas in which costs and trade offs, sometimes hidden, do exist. He then explains how the various implementation models arose, points out areas in which they are likely to evolve, and why they are what they are. He covers the semantic implications of the C++ object model and how that model affects your programs.Highlights
Explores the program behavior implicit in the C++ Object Model's support of object-oriented programming.
Explains the basic implementation of the object-oriented features and the trade offs implicit in those features.
Examines the impact on performance in terms of program transformation.

Description  :

An obscure, small-party politician, the angry ranting, Mein Kampf, the first volume published in 1925, was virtually ignored when it was originally. Similarly, the second volume, which appeared in 1926. The book details Hitler Mother's Childhood, Germany, World War I, France, in retaliation, the German people needed Lebensraum, and the means by which the National Socialist Party in power want you to get a "betrayal". Hitler was a racist agenda and the "Aryan" race includes the bigness. He dismissed as nonsense the Nazi party who read out a few can not believe that anyone has - or will - out of his radical, terrorist programs undertaken. Like Hitler and the Nazis to power, first party members and the general public can purchase the book had been pushed. Time Hitler became Chancellor of the Third Reich in 1933, the book atop the German bestseller lists. Was taken seriously when it is the first book was published, probably in the 20th century was very different.

Beyond the anger, hatred, bigotry, and self-aggrandizing, Mein Kampf is saddled with tortured prose, narrative is meandering, and tangled metaphors (one person "thorn in the eyes of venal officials" as it was described.) That said, it is incredibly important book. It is foolish to think that the Holocaust could happen again, especially if the Second World War and the Forgotten Horrors. As an Amazon.com reader has pointed out, "If you want to know about why the Holocaust happened, you were the man most responsible for it in terms of reading, you can not avoid." Mein Kampf, so progress is a reminder that evil can all too easily be read.

Managing Small-Scale Fisheries: Alternative Directions and Methods

McConney, Richard Pollnac, Robert Pomeroy
Publisher: ID,.,RC Books 2001 | 320 Pages | ISBN: 0889369437 | PDF | 22 MB

Human dependence on marine and coastal resources is increasing. Today, small-scale fisheries employ fifty of the world's fifty one million fishers, practically all of whom are from developing countries. And together, they produce more than half of the world's annual marine fish catch of ninety eight million tonnes, supplying most of the fish consumed in the developing world. At the same time, increased fishery overexploitation and habitat degradation are threatening the Earth's coastal and marine resources.

Most small-scale fisheries have not been well managed, if they have been managed at all. Existing approaches have failed to constrain fishing capacity or to manage conflict. They have not kept pace with technology or with the driving forces of economics, population growth, demand for food, and poverty. Worldwide, the management and governance of small-scale fisheries is in urgent need of reform.

Managing Small-scale Fisheries looks beyond the scope of conventional fishery management to alternative concepts, tools, methods, and conservation strategies. There is, for example, broader emphasis on ecosystem management and participatory decision-making. Interested readers will include fishery managers, both governmental and nongovernmental; instructors and students in fishery management; development organizations and practitioners working on small-scale fisheries; and fishers and fishing communities that wish to take responsibility for managing their own resources.

''Beginning and ending with some of English literature's most famous lines, Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities thrives on tension and conflict, all set against a bloody backdrop of the French Revolution . . . . Through the senses, Dickens transports us deeper and deeper into another era with each turn of the page. Smell the acidity of red wine as it spills on the streets and ominously stains the faces, hands, and feet of peasants who lap it up in desperation; feel the competing emotions of heartache and hope as one of Lucie's suitors stands trial; hear the cries of the raging mob and the clangs of their weapons as they storm the Bastille; see the glint of the guillotine as it falls swiftly to its victim below. The novel's sense of urgency and intimacy will draw you in and propel you through one of the most tumultuous times in history.''
